Our Mongolian adventure kicks off after breakfast with a journey to the breathtaking Terelj National Park, located 80 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of Ulan Bator. The day will be dedicated to immersing ourselves in the park's magnificent alpine scenery. This wild and photogenic setting offers fantastic opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, and even horseback riding. One of the park's unique attractions is Turtle Rock, a distinctive geological formation we'll explore. Following a delightful lunch at the camp, we'll embark on a hike to the captivating Aryabal Monastery, offering both a physical challenge and cultural enrichment. To gain deeper insights into Mongolian culture, we'll visit a local nomadic family, where we'll witness their traditional way of life. Baga Gazriin Chuluu (Middle Gobi)
Day 3
Visit Baga Gazriin Chuluu Lake and the ruins of Sum Khukh Burd Temple
We will set off early morning to begin our journey to Baga Gazriin Chuluu, an otherworldly formation of rocky mountains comprised of granite that glows red at sunset and sunrise. We will also visit the remains ruins of an ancient temple and explore the area by foot before taking a rest with a picnic lunch. Dinner will be at our ger camp where we will overnight. Day 4
Drive to Tsagaan Suvarga Rock
Following our morning meal, we'll embark on a journey to explore the ancient remains of the Sum Khukh Bird Temple. Subsequently, we'll proceed to Tsagaan Suvarga, an isolated and captivating white limestone cliff that astonishingly resembles a Buddhist stupa. We'll pause for a picturesque picnic, enjoying the breathtaking surroundings. Our day will conclude with a dinner and a restful overnight stay at a traditional ger camp. Here, we'll retrace the path of Roy Chapman Andrews, the pioneering paleontologist who made significant early discoveries in Mongolia. Our visit will also include an introduction to the iconic desert dwellers, camels, and a chance to meet a nomadic camel breeding family, allowing us to experience the legendary hospitality of Mongolian nomads. Hustain Nuruu National Park
Day 13
Hustai Nuruu Natural Reserve Guided Tour
Following breakfast, we embark on our journey once more, heading to Hustain Nuruu National Park. Our primary quest here is to search for the Przewalski horses, also known as takhi, believed to be the ancestors of all horses in the world. If you have binoculars, don't forget to bring them to appreciate the remarkable natural beauty in detail. We'll also have the opportunity to watch a short documentary and visit the museum to further enrich our understanding of this unique ecosystem.
