Special offers – book now, pay a £20.21 deposit and travel in 2021
We’re approaching the end of 2020 and what a challenging year it’s been for most of us. In the face of these exceptional
circumstances we have all had to change our routines. But to quote Shakespeare in the famous line from The Tempest: “As the
morning steals upon the night, melting the darkness...” we start to see light at the end of the tunnel.
Finally, a return to normal life is on the horizon.
So let’s give you an update from Russia. Russia lifted border restrictions a long time ago but, as for many countries,
a mandatory 14 day quarantine on the return to the UK for all those returning from Russia has meant that many travellers
have chosen to stay at home. That’s understandable, but we are encouraged by news that the British government plans to
reduce the quarantine period. Transport minister Grant Shapps recently announced that from December 15th, travellers will
be able to pay for a private COVID-19 test five days after they return and so long as the result is negative, they will
not be required to self-isolate for the remainder of the 14 day period.
We’re delighted by that very positive news and also cheered by the reports of significant developments in trials of the
coronavirus vaccine. It’s heartening to hear from the Prime Minister that the data from those trials indicates a high
level of effectiveness and that, in Health secretary Matt Hancock’s words: “We hope that sometime after Easter things
will be able to start to get back to normal.”
Why travel to Russia now
In this transitional period between world lockdown and a return to normality, there are certain advantages of travelling to Russia.
Far fewer travellers are visiting Russia at the moment and as such it’s possible to take advantage of a private tour for a group
tour price. There are no crowds as there were before – imagine visiting the Hermitage without the need to peer over other
people’s shoulders to see those magnificent works of art. St Petersburg’s museums are already open, with social distancing
measures in place and masks required to ensure your visit is COVID-safe. Most of public places are open and only Moscow
museums are closed until the middle of January.
That’s not all. The exchange rate with the Russian rouble is working in visitors’ favour right now. For example, it’s possible
to visit a good restaurant for less than a half from a usual price in the UK. As most of our tours include all necessary
services, you’ll spend almost nothing when you’re in Russia.
There is one additional cost on top of what you’d have paid to travel to Russia pre-pandemic, however, and that’s the
obligatory COVID-19 test. We understand that it’s an extra charge if you decide to travel and as a consequence we’re going
to announce a special offer for our tours where the discount we provide will essentially eliminate the cost of your test.
Tempted? We’ve already taken customers back to Russia. If you’re keen to find out what travel to Russia is like right now,
