Book your tickets for a capital performance

Everyone needs to come in from the cold at some point, so why not make it to see a
performance at one of Moscow’s world-class theatres. The Bolshoi is staging Rimsky-
Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden in mid-December and it’s not too late to get your tickets. If
you prefer ballet to opera, they’re following it up later in the month with a production of
Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. Whichever you choose, it’s sure to be a memorable
experience.

If your sights are set on exploring the Russian countryside, few activities can be more fun in
winter than crossing frozen lakes on the back of a dog sled. Karelia’s beautiful Lake Onego is
the perfect setting if you’re hoping to distinguish your mush from your hush. If you’re more
of a speed freak, you will love a snowmobile ride. As daylight slips away, you might catch a
glimpse of the dazzling Northern Lights.

the famous Trans-Siberian route are all well heated, so winter’s an excellent time to enjoy a
Russian rail adventure. Look out on the snow from the comfort of your toasty compartment

Ditch the Alps this year

Sochi earnt its place on the ski map after successfully hosting the Winter Olympics in 2014.
